Mediation Services

I help Arizona couples reach agreements on divorce, custody, prenups, and modifications—without the courtroom chaos.

Mediation isn’t about sitting in awkward silence while I play therapist. It’s a structured, transparent process where you and your partner (or ex-partner) negotiate directly, with me guiding the process and making sure your agreements are legally sound.

You stay in control. You make the decisions. You don’t hand your family’s future to a judge who doesn’t know you.

What to Expect

Mediation with me isn’t about sitting in a room awkwardly staring at each other while I play referee. It’s structured, transparent, and designed to actually get you to the finish line. Here’s exactly how the process works:

Step 1: Readiness Consultation (2 Parts)

Before we dive into mediation, I need to make sure it’s the right fit for your situation—and that you’re both actually ready to do this work.

Individual Screenings

We meet separately (30 minutes each, $75 per person, virtual). This isn’t just a domestic violence screening—I’m also assessing communication styles, power dynamics, and whether you’re each genuinely willing to engage in good faith.

What we cover:

  • Your situation and what you’re hoping to accomplish
  • Whether mediation is safe and appropriate
  • Any concerns that might impact the process

What happens next: After each of you completes your screening, I’ll reach out to schedule the Joint Discussion.

Joint Discussion

Once you’ve each completed your Individual Screening, we meet together (30 minutes, virtual) to talk about your specific situation, go over the mediation process in detail, and I’ll give you a firm quote.

What we cover:

  • Your issues and where you are in the process
  • A general roadmap of how we’d work through your case
  • Timeline expectations
  • Cost (firm quote based on your situation)

What happens next: If you decide to move forward, I’ll send you the engagement agreement and invoice. Once you’ve each signed and paid, you’ll get access to your client portal and homework.

Step 2: Your Homework

This is where most people stall out—and it’s also where you prove you’re serious about moving forward. You’ll each complete:

Confidential Questionnaire

A detailed intake form that helps me understand your situation, priorities, and goals. The more thorough you are, the less time we waste in sessions gathering basic information.

Financial Disclosures

You’ll each gather and exchange financial documents (bank statements, pay stubs, tax returns, etc.) using the checklist in your portal. Full transparency is required—no hiding accounts, no games, no “forgetting” to mention things.

Timeline: You have 3 weeks to complete everything. Both of you. If one person drags their feet, we can’t move forward.

What happens next: Once you’ve each submitted your homework, I’ll review everything and reach out to schedule your first mediation session.

Step 3: Mediation Sessions

This is where the real work happens. We meet (virtually—I’m based in Phoenix but work with clients throughout Arizona) and work through your issues one by one.

What we cover:

  • Parenting plans and custody schedules (if applicable)
  • Division of assets and debts
  • Spousal support / child support (if applicable)
  • Any other issues specific to your situation

How it works:

  • Sessions are 2 hours
  • How many sessions you need depends on your complexity and how quickly you work through issues
  • Some couples knock it out in a few sessions over a couple weeks. Others need multiple sessions spread over a few months. You set the pace.

What I need from you:

  • Show up prepared. Review homework, think about your priorities, come ready to negotiate.
  • Be transparent. If new information comes up, disclose it. Hiding things kills mediation.
  • Mind your manners. You don’t have to agree on everything, but you do have to treat each other with basic respect.

What happens next: Once we’ve reached agreements on all your issues, we move to finalization.

Step 4: Finalization

I draft the legal documents based on your agreements and coordinate signing (with an e-notary when applicable).

For divorce cases: I file everything with the court. Arizona law requires a mandatory 60-day waiting period from the date of filing before the divorce can be finalized. After that, the judge has up to 21 days to review and sign off.

For custody-only cases: I file everything with the court. There’s no waiting period—the judge has up to 21 days to review and sign off after filing.

For prenups and cohabitation agreements: No court filing required. Once you’ve both signed, you’re done.

For modifications: I file with the court. The judge has up to 21 days to review and sign off (no waiting period for modifications).

Then you’re done.

The Whole Process: Start to Finish

Typical timeline and cost: 3-4 months from Readiness Consultation to finalized agreements (depending on your pace and complexity) and $5K-$15K total.

Compare that to litigation: 12-24+ months and $30K-$60K total to fight in court.

Pricing Transparency

My rates reflect professional expertise. If you’re looking for the cheapest option, I’m not your mediator. But if you understand that quality costs money—and you’re still saving 50%+ compared to litigation—let’s talk.

Pricing is based on:

  • Complexity of your situation
  • Number of issues to resolve
  • How prepared you are to engage

You’ll get a firm quote during your Joint Discussion (after I understand your specific situation). No surprises, no hidden fees.
